ADHD Treatment

The full-text contents of the following article is available on the Pediatrics website at this link [Click here]:

Ronald T. Brown, Robert W. Amler, Wendy S. Freeman, James M. Perrin, Martin T. Stein, Heidi M. Feldman, Karen Pierce, Mark L. Wolraich and the Committee on Quality Improvement, Subcommittee on Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. Treatment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder: Overview of the evidence. Pediatrics 2005; 115: e749-e757.

Snipped from the Abstract:
"The evidence strongly supports the use of stimulant medications for treating the core symptoms of children with ADHD and, to a lesser degree, for improving functioning. Behavior therapy alone has only limited effect on symptoms or functioning of children with ADHD, although combining behavior therapy with medication seems to improve functioning and may decrease the amount of (stimulant) medication needed. Comparison among stimulants (mainly methylphenidate and amphetamines) did not indicate that 1 class outperformed the other."

Dr. Risser:

Dr. Ronald T. Brown is paid to have those particular ideas.

I have a blog,

In particular, I am bothered that he was employed by Eli Lilly while being co-researcher on a Cure Autism Now grant to determine mercury's effect on know, the autism/thimerosal thing. I guess that bastard got in there before anything could be determined because the study hasn't come to fruition as far as I can figure out...It probably wasn't illegal because both were privately just is unethical in my mind. Like that whole Abramoff/Reed affair...taking money (from casino's) to make money (from innocent christians who didn't believe in gambling) by making deals (with Abramoff..sp?)to help others increase business (Tome Delay...??)

Yes, I am a crazy parent who has drunk the koolaid and it's pink disease flavored...

I just joined up with Kos. He had an influx of either conspiracists or rovian wanna be's this week and had to delete posts for the first time ever. I hate republicans...

Gotta go, storm from Dennis Hurricane may be hitting SC, it sounds like. Lightening...
